Chesterfield100 11 Reviewed 3 days ago Superb Hotel in a great location in Madrid I haven't written a trip advisor review before but have read many and used the photographs to decide whether to stay or not. So I will begin with a simple summary. If you are hesitating about booking, either a trip to Madrid or specifically this hotel, .....then DON'T. It is amongst one of the best hotels my wife and I have stayed in on our travels. I haven't added any more photographs are there enough on here already to do the hotel justice. Upon entering the hotel, which was only a €30 fixed price taxi ride away from the airport, or the metro is also available, you are treated to excellent service by the concierge and the reception staff, for whom nothing is too much trouble and they are always ready with friendly advice when asked. We wanted to experience a traditional, not tourist, tapas bar for our first night and the concierge recommend two, both within 5 minutes walk. We chose the Mercado de la Reina, just excellent. Worried that the hotel doesn't have an evening restaurant, well don't, the location of the hotel on Gran Via puts you within easy walking distance of many restaurants, the theatre district or even the old town area...oh and the City Bus tours stop close by as well. The hotel does have an afternoon snack bar and roof top terrace where complimentary tea and coffee (alcoholic drinks can also be bought!) can be taken in the afternoon sunshine! A full English or continental breakfast is available up to 11.30 for those who need a lie in!! Now what else do you need an hotel for...did I hear someone say bedroom? Well we booked a standard double via the hotel's own website, not Expedia or Booking.com etc.and whilst I don't know if that made a difference, it certainly was cheaper, but room 507 is superb. Two queen beds, dressing table and comfortable armchair and a bathroom more akin to Roman times. Two hand sinks, hansgore rain shower and enough complimentary toiletries and towels to keep the most fastidious person going! Oh and comb, toothbrush, shower cap, shoeshine cloth and tissues, bath robes, slippers and room safe and enough clothes hangers as well. So don't worry about forgetting to pack anything, they've got it all. The room is centrally heated, has air con available at any time, not just summer months, is on the front of the hotel with patio doors and a little Juliet balcony. It has powered roller shutters on all windows so don't worry too much about road noise. Yes there can be some but for heaven's sake you are on Madrid's main shopping road and it didn't keep me awake! Price, wouldn't fault it. Approximately €400 for 3 nights.! So if you are thinking of a trip to Madrid then go ahead and book Hotel Atlantico. I don't think you will be disappointed. AND if you don't, then I have just wasted the last half an hour writing this!!!
